Service Learning opportunities have been influential in connecting our students and staff to the community we belong. The students in our school have opportunities to choose service projects based on where they can make a positive impact. Service projects at RES include Green and Gold Day, Global Day of Service, IAR Buddies, Fit-2-Serve, and Adopt a Senior. Empowered students have initiated Market Day, Dollar Drop Days, Kindness Cafe, raising money for Ukraine, Socktober, marker recycling, and more. At the completion of their project, students reflected upon their successes with a +/- chart.
Students donated supplies to create “thank you” bags for all first responders in the community. Students participated in this activity during Green and Gold Day with help from high school volunteers.
Elementary students donate supplies and work with MHS students on Green and Gold Day to pack birthday bags to be donated to our Community Food Pantry!
Students work together to run a canned food drive. Food collected is donated to our local food pantry.
4th grade students work together to sell lemonade and use the funds raised to benefit charity.
Students visit the Mattoon community garden with Fit-2-Serve to learn about its purpose and impact.
Classroom captains- make decisions to successfully transport students to classrooms from morning space.
