1.3 - Family and Community Partnerships

LIFT

Updated: Nov 10, 2023

Family and community partnerships are fostered through a wide variety of communication tools including welcome letters, school calendars, event flyers, community events, welcome boxes for new students which include LIFT gear and other important information. Students help develop a monthly newsletter with information on what’s been happening in our school including student stories and other important information. Students help coordinate and create a LIFTed video series interviewing other students on their accomplishments at LIFT.

LIFT strives to engage our families through traditional means such as open houses but also seeks out additional methods of engagement through hosting building tours for families and our community, creation of advisory boards which are made up of parents, students, industry representatives, and college and university representatives. The Advisory Board meets bi-yearly to discuss curriculum, growth areas, expand community/industry partners, and celebrations.

Service to the community is at the heart of LIFT’s purpose. Students take individual pathway content and apply it to real world application to expand learning and growth. Through this process and through reflection, students synthesize the impact that their learning has had on the community and/or world. LIFT connects to our local community throughout the year in events such as a 9/11 Stair Challenge honoring 1st responders and Veterans Day activities. We open our doors to the community for the annual Trunk or Treat and Downtown Christmas. Students provide service to the community through their Capstone Projects, our annual Day of Service, and the Franklin Covey Global Leadership Day.
