3.3 Leadership Events

Updated: Oct 25, 2023

An annual tradition at Riddle Elementary School is our Veterans Day Parade. All students work together to deck the halls in red, white, and blue in order to welcome Veterans from the community while our second grade students perform various songs in honor of our veterans. This is just one of the many leadership events that occur at Riddle. Others events include Learning Walks, Green and Gold Day, Student-Led Canned Food Drives, and Dollar Drop Days. Please see more on the next page.

More Details:

  • Student leaders located a need in the community and organized a canned food drive to meet that need. After the event, students celebrated achieving their goal and reflected on ways to make the canned drive better in the future!

  • On Green and Gold Day, students create cards for people in nursing homes and collect items for Birthday Bags in order to help members throughout the community.

  • Students frequently organize Dollar Drop Days. For these events, the students identify a need, develop advertisements, and deliver the funds raised to the community. Students are continually reflecting on ways to improve this event and looking for new organizations that could use their assistance.

Market Day

Student organized and facilitated Riddle Market Day. This team of volunteers decided to raise funds for The Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. Each team member designed original artwork/craft items to sell at the school market. Students were in charge of advertising, setting up, and reflecting upon the success of the event.

More Details:

  • Student Lighthouse Leaders served as mentors for members of the Junior Student Lighthouse Team.

  • Partners created advertising materials to promote their items.

  • Students contacted Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital to determine the hospital’s wish list. Then used the proceeds from Market Day to make their own purchases online.

  • The Student Lighthouse Team reflected upon their success and identified areas for growth.
