Family Partnerships
We believe families are our students’ first and most important educators. Their involvement is crucial in the development of our leaders! Programs and events including our Parent Academy, Watch D.O.G.S., Family Title I Nights and the Penguin Patch Holiday Shop provide families with numerous opportunities to learn and practice the 7 Habits. Family members engage and volunteer throughout the school year in many different capacities. Additionally, input from families is collected and assessed annually through our yearly school registration process.

Community Partnerships
The community we serve plays an integral role in our commitment to promote the paradigm that everyone can lead! We rely on many community partnerships to help develop our leaders. From local organizations, such as Fit-2-Serve, to our county hospital, Sarah Bush Lincoln, our students have a multitude of diverse opportunities to learn and lead outside of our classroom walls.
Student members of the Kindness Cafe collected donations for the Coles County Animal Shelter. Students created a promo video to share with students and staff.
Dr. Miles Hastings visits in the month of February, Dental Health Month, to discuss teeth and gum health.
A quote from a Fit-2-Serve volunteer, “I loved watching the excitement one student expressed! ‘You mean we get to do that?’ He was very engaged and it was fun just watching him get excited. Another student was a great listener as well. She was the only one who remembered the word ‘nutrients’.”
Classrooms engage in Healthy Kids lessons through Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital. Participants learn about leading healthy and active lives.
Fit-2-Serve helps provide opportunities for students to develop their knowledge and understanding of our community and its members through programs such as Learn-2-Grow, Farm-2-Table, and School-2-Farm.
