To facilitate shared leadership and decision-making, all of our staff are encouraged to participate in our Lighthouse and/or Action Teams (Leadership, Culture, Academics). These teams meet monthly and synergize to establish, monitor, and update our school-wide implementation plan. Selecting roles based on strengths and passions enables every member to contribute in a meaningful way and strengthens our foundation of shared leadership. Maintaining this framework and focus helps us make progress toward achieving our school-wide WIGs. Every meeting begins with celebrations as we reflect on our progress and identify our next steps. Additional subcommittees are established as needed, expanding opportunities for staff voice and choice. For example, during the 22-23 school year, a subcommittee was formed to develop and carry out an action plan aimed at increasing opportunities for student leadership and engagement.
Students are also encouraged to apply for our Lighthouse and LEAD (Action) Teams. The Student LEAD Teams (Leadership, Culture, Academic) also meet regularly to carry out their mission, develop and implement action plans, and monitor progress toward their WIGs. During the 22-23 school year, student representatives from each of the Student LEAD teams were invited to attend a portion of the adult Lighthouse & Action Team meetings. Their input and involvement was incredible. In response, and to further amplify student voice, our student and adult action teams will begin meeting together during the 23-24 school year. At the end of the year, we recognized and celebrated our Student Lighthouse and LEAD Teams (Leadership, Culture, Academics) with certificates of achievement, donuts, and success stories.
