Members of each department collaborate to develop an annual WIG that is aligned to one of our school-wide Leadership, Culture, or Academic WIGs. For example, during the 22-23 school year, our Science Department committed to focus on our building-wide Academic WIG to increase IAR scores, specifically in writing. They developed specific lead measures and tracked and displayed them in classrooms.
Teachers develop classroom routines to facilitate the collection and analysis of data and celebrate progress. Departments also meet bi-monthly to discuss instructional strategies, progress, and next steps. Instructional coaches attend the department meetings to provide additional support. These dedicated efforts contributed to improvements in our Math and ELA IRA scores.
